Quietus Mix 31: Alec Empire’s Empirical Evidence by The Quietus on Mixcloud

The Quietus :”That the world is a better place with Alec Empire in it is an indisputable truth. That Alec Empire has done us a mix AND taken the time to talk us through his choices, is an indisputable proud moment in the history of this Quietus Mix Series. These are the fizzing elements, deep foundations, bracing braces and sonic weapons that in their own ways, have conspired and combined to make up Atari Teenage Riot’s new album, Is This Hyperreal?
When it comes to disseminating righteous music to the world, you can rely on a man like Alec Empire to go above and beyond the call of duty. The Atari Teenage Riot man has compiled us not only a fantastic mix of the music that has inspired him and the group over the years, but provided a narration of why the songs are so important. There are some fascinating stories too - imagine a festival bill with The Locust, ATR, Suicide and Metalux, who are included here… well, it happened. And I for one did not know that there exists a 7” with The Fall on one side and ATR on the other - listen as Alec tells us what an honour it was to play with The Monks. There’s also fascinating insight on the impact of techno, Sonic Youth, why ATR love The Raveonettes, plus a brand new track from Nic Endo and a rough, never-released mix of ‘Battle’, his track with Patrick Wolf. Remember Atari Teenage Riot’s Is This Hyperreal? is a) their best work and b) out later this month.”
